V 0.1.3
V0.1.3 is here!
This patch features a majority of interactables in the form of power-ups. So what can you expect from this latest update.
Shrapenel:
Shrapenel is a new type of projectile that the player can't directly fire, however is featured in the Mine and Grenade Power-ups (See below). The shrapenel works the same as the bullet, except that it travels faster, and doesnt bounce off walls.
Power-ups!
In the current patch there are 3 new power-ups. Each power-up has a unique pickup associated to it, and will change how the tank shoots and reacts. Each ppickup works the same, having the Player bump into a box to get a power-up associated. Below are the current power-ups you can find.
Mines:
Mines are a power-up that deploys a hidden mine on the map on shoot input. When the player collects the corresponding pick-up, the tank will transform into a mine deployer. The player gets to place one mine, which after a brief delay will fade and "arm" itself. If any player runs over the area it was placed it will have a 1 second delay before exploding into a ball of new projectiles called shrapenel. Live function shown below.
Grenades:
Grenades are a powerful projectile working similar to the mine. When the player picks up a corresponding pickup they will transform into a grenade launcher. When the player shoots it will shoot out a large projectile and the first thing the porjectile collides with, it will explode into a ball of shrapenel same as the mine. Function shown below.
Shields:
The shield power-up is a defensive power-up, giving the player an extra instance of a hit. When the player picks up the corresponding pickup the tank will deploy a shield around itself. This doesnt work great against many bullets but can prove helpful to block a potential stray or win a fight against your opponent. Function shown below.
Feedback and bugs:
So far with the late update came a bit of feedback on the game, and even some wierd bugs.
- There is currently a bug with certain walls where the bullet will "attach" itself to them and then stay there permanently.
- Some players found when controlling the tank in mine form that its a bit hard to understand which way your player is facing due to its even sprite.
- Some players confused certain parts of a map with a possible underpass, this wasnt intended, but could be a possible idea for the future of the game
- If a player run over a mine and survives the mine doesnt dissapear so it can be triggered mutiple times.
So with all that said and done, what can we expect in V0.1.4? This patch aims to rehaul a lot of the animations, sprites and even add sounds to make the game fell more alive. The wall bug and mine will hopefully be fixed and due to a different sprite we are hoping that it should control and look a lot easier.
Until next patch...
